A Scientific Approach To Web Design
We approach website design differently than most companies. It’s not just about designing beautiful sites. It starts with the right messaging and content development and then building around that. Words are what sell, and your website need to be a vehicle for the proper messaging.
Web Design
The Internet has evolved very quickly, and so has web design. We have gone from coding websites by hand to what you see is what you get from web editors that simplified it some to content management systems like WordPress, Joomla, and custom systems that make for very robust and expandable websites. Some are so easy to implement that a novice can use some of them.
You turn on the Television, and you see commercials about these website builders, and they say things like make it, publish it, and get found as if it is that easy, and to be frank with you, it is a sham to sell the system that makes them recurring monthly income. Nothing wrong with that, but it is a little deceiving.
Is there a difference between a custom site and one I can do myself using one of these site builders?
The answer is a simple yes. We cannot tell you how many times we have heard people say that they built a website, but no one comes to it or that they do get some traffic from it, but it doesn’t convert those visitors into actual clients or customers.
Most people focus on the look of the website…is it pretty…does it have flashing stuff on it. While there is nothing wrong with having a beautiful website, it must also contain other elements that will help drive customer conversions and, ultimately, sales.
Creating a high-converting website starts with first knowing who your customer is and what they want. What are the questions they are asking? What are their needs and wants? Are they predominately men or women? Where do they hang out? What income brackets are they in? These are all questions that have to be answered in order to create a website that converts.
Responsive Mobile Friendly Design
In most cases, people now visit your website on a mobile device. That is why it is important to ensure your site looks and functions excellently on that mobile device.
When building out a new site for your business, we spend most of the time making sure the mobile experience is top level. We want to make it easy to navigate and the most important elements easy to get to.
Websites and Search Engines
Once you have answered several questions and developed a direction for the site, then it needs to be built in a search engine-friendly way. That used to be coding by hand in HTML and CSS. These have not gone away but are used in a more powerful and advanced way.
Today, the choice of most web designers are platforms like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, and many more. WordPress, however, has surged ahead as a platform of choice due to the ease of development, SEO-friendly coding, and the ability to implement just about any design into it and a full range of user-friendly extensions to expand it to whatever level you would like.
There are several design firms that have created their own content management systems, and many of those a good as well. Here at RMG Web Marketing, we can design and implement for several different platforms but WordPress is our platform of choice for the reasons mentioned above. Our clients can easily manage their site if they want with a little training or we can do it for them.
Your website is your online retail space. It is like having another store location. With that in mind, you need to make sure that it is drawing attention, pulling potential customers in the door and pointing them to what they want, and making it easy for them to buy it, whether it is a product or a service.
Website Design and Content
Once your website is designed it then needs high-quality content in not only text but video and audio as well. Developing this content begins with keyword research that identifies just what your potential customers are looking for. Then the content is written, turned into video or audio, and placed on the site. The keywords are woven into the content naturally. When the search engines index that content, they have complex algorithms that analyze it and determine where it should come up in the search results.
Writing content with the proper use of keywords is called “on-page optimization.” This is a critical part of the SEO process and is more than just writing something and hoping to be found.
At RMG Web Marketing, we don’t just design sites. Our goal is to create a powerful conversion tool that improves your bottom line and gets you the desired exposure. If you don’t have content, we create it and work with you to help engage your potential customer in fresh and dynamic ways.
